local aos judging
By AOS Judge and OSSC Member Doug Overstreet
After over 50 years of meeting on the 2nd Monday evening of
the month, the
American Orchid Society Pacific South Judging Center is changing
the day of the monthly judging sessions! Beginning on January 14, 2008, our
monthly judging sessions will be held as follows:
- TIME: 2nd Saturday of each month, 10:00 a.m. for 2021 and 2022, except for the following dates: July 2, 2022 and September 3, 2022
- PLACE: Huntington Botanical Center, Lower Level,
Huntington Botanical
Gardens, Library and Art Collections, San Marino, CA
- PARKING: Available in the staff parking lot adjacent to the Botanical
Center
- HOW:
- Under current COVID circumstance, exhibitors are unable to enter the judging room due to capacity limits. You can park in the West Lot and walk directly to the botanical center; if security asks, please let them know you are here for American Orchid Society judging in the Atrium of the Botanical Center
- Upon arriving to the Botanical Center, you will find a sign that says “American Orchid Society Judging for Exhibitors”
- You will call the phone number indicated on this sign and a judge will come upstairs to collect the entry forms and plants from the exhibitors; we will call you when we are through evaluating your plant
- Please arrive with your entry form prefilled and be sure to write your cell phone number on the back of the entry form so that the judges can contact you after they are done evaluating your plant; you can download the forms here: AOS Judging Entry Form
- Please note that circumstances surrounding COVID-19 may improve or deteriorate over time and procedures may change without notice. If you have any further questions or would like the most updated procedures, please contact both Brandon Tam (btam@huntington.org) and Gayle Brodie (gaylebrodie805@gmail.com).
This is very important news and Pac South has come to this decision after
much study and consideration. We feel that it is very important to include the members of our local orchid societies in our judging activities so that
they may feel welcome to bring plants in for judging and to learn more about
the AOS judging system.
